An active island journey
Make one week a journey through contrasting sides of Sri Lanka. This active itinerary moves from Colombo and the Cultural Triangle into tea country, continues to Ella and adds a Yala wildlife excursion before a coastal return via Galle. It suits travellers who enjoy a full schedule and are comfortable with several road journeys and hotel changes.
What you can experience
Your route
Meet your transfer after arrival and continue to Colombo. If your flight time allows, choose a light introduction to the city with places such as Galle Face Green or Independence Square. Keep the rest of the day flexible.
Overnight: Colombo.
Travel into the Cultural Triangle and visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress if arrival time and your energy allow. Explore the surrounding area or discuss a local meal experience. The climb involves steps and exposed sections.
Overnight: Sigiriya.
Visit Dambulla Cave Temple on the journey towards Kandy. Plan a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, with an optional cultural show only if timing permits.
Overnight: Kandy.
Travel through changing scenery to Nuwara Eliya. Discuss an available tea estate or factory visit and time around Gregory Lake. Boat rides and extra activities need separate confirmation.
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.
Continue to Ella and choose a visit to Nine Arches Bridge or a Little Adam’s Peak walk, depending on the arrival time and walking ability. Request a train segment only if it fits confirmed services and tickets.
Overnight: Ella.
Travel to the Yala area. A safari can be requested for an available session, with the final timing agreed around transfer duration and park access. Animals move freely, so particular sightings are not guaranteed.
Overnight: Yala area or Tissamaharama.
Continue along the coast for a Galle Fort visit before returning towards Colombo or the airport. This is a long travel day. A departure flight must be late enough for the confirmed schedule; otherwise add an airport-area night.
Overnight: Departure or separately booked extra night.
Choosing your pace
Choose this route for variety in a short holiday. If you prefer fewer hotel changes, remove a stop or extend the trip to ten days.

Not comfortably without changing the route. For several beach nights, choose the 10-day tour or replace one or more inland stops.
